CoSORT is the flagship product of Innovative Routines International, Inc. CoSORT is a high-performance data-processing software suite for file sorting and one-pass extraction, joining, summarization, and reporting; and, for providing data manipulation and reporting functionality in large RDBMS, data warehouse, application development, and mainframe migration environments.
Around CoSORT a variety of other products have been created for high speed sorting withing ETL software tools and for high-speed unload/merge-manipulate/reload of Very Large Database Base sets.
IntoDQ is the authorized reseller of CoSORT in the Benelux.
CoSORT History
IRI was founded as Information Resources, Inc. of New York in May, 1978 by Paul Friedland. Mr. Friedland was an expert in sorting technology, first as a student and later on as a professor. Onder his supervision IRI's mainframe sort specialists recreated coroutine sort (CoSORT) technology first for the personal computer -- CP/M 80 and 86 in 1980 and MS-DOS in 1982. CoSORT was developed on an AT&T 3B2 in 1985, well in advance of the commercial importance of UNIX.
The company began to grow more rapidly in 1990, amid a global downsizing trend that continues today. In a key expansion move in 1995, IRI moved to Melbourne, on Florida's high technology "Space Coast," and became Innovative Routines International, Inc. CoSORT revenue has quadrupled since 1995 because of the product's widespread acceptance in the world's largest data warehouses staged on SMP UNIX servers, and its unparalleled flexibility in Windows environments.
All major UNIX hardware manufacturers, including: Amdahl, Compaq, Data General, HP, IBM, Intel, NCR, Siemens, Sun, and Unisys, continue to seek CoSORT benchmarks and cross-certifications as they recommend CoSORT to their customers. In addition, many leading DBMS, data warehousing, and vertical market software providers embed or recommend the use of CoSORT technology with their applications for competitive performance advantages in high data volume environments.
Today IRI develops and licenses several high-performance data processing software products for a variety of functions.
PRODUCT OVERVIEW
CoSORT - High Performance Sorting and Data Manipulation
Its strength is not only speed but also the ease of use and the extensive data merge and manipulation functionality processed simultaneous with the sort operations.
CoSORT Plug-Ins - CoSORT in Third Party Software
This refers to a variety of drop-in replacements and conversion routines for third-party sort verbs and parameters. By using included or separately-available CoSORT modules, you can upgrade your sort performance without making significant changes to existing operations. Examples are modules for Ascential, IBM DB/2, Informatica, SAS, UNIX.
FAst extraCT (FACT) - High speed Unload->Sort&Transform->Load for LARGE Oracle tables
FAst extraCT is a powerful table unload tool for Oracle DBAs, and a high-performance ETL component for data warehouse architects. FACT rapidly unloads large tables into portable flat files using SQL syntax, and optionally creates the extract's metadata for subsequent or simultaneous transformations (via CoSORT's SortCL) and loads (via Oracle's SQL*Loader). Combining these individually-optimized steps through a single command-line pipe will only further accelerate very large database (VLDB) reorgs and data warehouse ETL operations.
RowGen - Generating testdata
RowGen is a custom data and file synthesizer, leveraging random data generation, selection, and SortCL's extensive output formatting capabilities. Using this explicit format definition language, you can build (and transform!) as many files -- of any size, layout, and data types -- as you need to develop, test, and benchmark applications or hardware. No other tool gives you this level of speed and flexibility in creating, sharing, and simulating flat files, report formats, and field data (types).
netCONVERT - Dataconversion between UNIX and mainframes
netCONVERT is a robust data migration tool for porting data between mainframe and UNIX platforms. Typical netCONVERT users translate mainframe-based EBCDIC and DISPLAY data files (defined by COBOL copybooks) into CSV-formatted ASCII flat files for database population and other mission-critical, open systems applications. Command-line or Java GUI invocation.
x-PRESS - Cross-platform compression/decompression
x-PRESS is a fast, proprietary cross-platform data compression and decompression package for large data volumes. Typical users compress and decompress files across mainframe and open systems platforms to reduce their network bandwidth and storage requirements. x-PRESS has command-line, batch, GUI and API access. x-PRESS can also convert between EBCDIC and ASCII, encrypt and decrypt compressed files, and allows direct read access of specific parts of compressed files.
Permitas - Software licensing & tracking
Permitas is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art software licensing and tracking system for independent software vendors (ISVs) and their customers. Easy-to-understand, implement, and use, Permitas prevents piracy while letting you selectively control the location, duration, application, and registration of your Windows and/or UNIX product(s). Your customers can enter license keys themselves, or activate use directly from your (or the Permitas) web server.
Logon - Logon and system security control
Logon is a UNIX-independent file and system security application that tightly controls and reports user activities. Way beyond what UNIX password files can do, Logon Security gives you complete control over -- and audit reports for -- users, stations, and groups. Anyone trying to tamper with Logon's encrypted administration or auditing files can also be sensed, reported, locked out, sent into a special application, etc.
